America Movil has had one of its most difficult years in recent decades, and it seems that it is a phenomenon that is already making a dent among media reference within the sector. So it just happened with people of Bloomberg, which has published its annual list of operators with higher growth in Mexico, in the company of Carlos Slim until the end.
Bloomberg (via Grupo Reforma) report, points out that, while America Movil remains as leader of the sector in Mexico, actually globally has been exceeded already by his two main rivals: Telefonica and AT & T.
The Mexican company obtained in 2016 lower earnings by close to $52.350 million, while in 2015 this figure amounted to USD $59.220 million, this gap between both periods more contrast compared with Telefonica which managed to gather more than USD $ 2016 53.800 million.
In contrast, AT & T it turned out to be the company with best growth numbers, since he managed to close global income by more than $164,000 million, to become the number one in the world, followed only by China Mobile and Verizon.
The main reason for this decline of America Movil is attributed to the depreciation of the Mexican peso against the dollar.
Since the function of the operator relies on services generally purchased on foreign currency, but customers pay in devalued national currency.
