Too much noise and reactions generated the intentions of the Government of Chile to regulate the market of private transport services based on mobile apps, say über, Cabify or EasyTaxi (among others), since they are currently in a sort of “no man’s land” almost on the edge of illegality.
Bill promoted by the Senate and the Ministry of transport and telecommunications covers several key points, between Ulm charging fees at different times (the famous “dynamic rate”), which drivers Yes or Yes have a class A license, the type of vehicles used, imposed by kilometers driven and the Elimination of cash.
The first service this is manifested in this regard was Cabify by its general manager, Agustín Guilisasti, who referred to each of the points in question. In resumen:Ca
- Cabify no problems with regard to prices because they charge flat rate all day all the time.
- On licensing, they stated that they have high standards of quality and filter, but considered that there should be control and protocols to ensure the best service to customers.
- Concerning the type and quality of vehicles, believe that the focus should be on security offering this above model or commercial value.
- They are in favor of eliminating the payment in cash, proposing to incorporate new forms of payment more accessible as debit cards and payment with CuentaRut.
- Finally showed against of what they consider a collection of taxes with the additional charge per kilometer, this because their drivers must be already billed, covering tax in advance.
It is important to mention that announced by the Government is only a project, in phase of ideas on implementation with nothing approved yet, however we believe it is vital the services referred to give to know their views on the subject as Cabify did. Hope that it says the rest of the companies and we are confident that will be very interesting that Uber has to say about.
