Hugo Barra joins Facebook as head of Oculus VR

A few days ago, we learned that Hugo Barra left their place in Xiaomi, the giant of China phones. And now, the next destination of bar is already not unknown: will take over as head of Oculus VR.

Technically, Hugo Barra will be the head of “all our efforts of reality, including to the team of Oculus”, explained Mark Zuckerberg in a publication in (where more) Facebook.

Hugo shares my belief that virtual and augmented reality will be the next great computing platform and will allow us to experience new things and be more creative than ever before. Hugo will help us to build that future, and we are already looking forward to that integrates our team.

Now, the million-dollar question: who is Hugo Barra?

Although he became best known publicly for his work on Xiaomi, bar has years of circus in large technology companies. Before Xiaomi was on Google and was an important part of the Android team. But for many his “masterpiece” took place in the Chinese manufacturer, which achieved global recognition just with Hugo Barra as head of all products of Xiaomi.

Against this background, the choice of Facebook seems interesting considering the profile of the new Chief of Oculus and virtual reality. On the other hand, the news about Oculus lately have not been entirely positive, especially if they are Palmer Luckey (founder of Oculus) and their adventures in campaigns pro Donald Trump.
