Many are them teams of researchers that try to create that promise of computer of new generation capable of offering a new technology, architecture… in final, be more fast, efficient and consume less. Many are the ways in which we are working and, on this occasion, IBM could even mark the difference after having managed to set up a system of 500 artificial neurons with technology of phase change that could simulate the functioning of the organic brains.
If we think about what is a computer, we will not be difficult to identify similarities with any type of brain, not in vain, many are learning systems and artificial intelligence that put hardware and software in conjunction to devise how to make any kind of system capable of learning and, in this case, acting as a human. On this occasion, with a system of artificial neurons, we would get these artificial intelligence systems to go a step further.

IBM Opens the door to a new generation of artificial intelligence systems
To mimic the functioning of our brain, where the data resides in the different patterns of shot of neurons and new connections that will develop, researchers at IBM have opted for the technology of phase change, a type of memory capable of storing data in non-volatile manner since they reside in the structure and its relational pattern. The challenge now managed by IBM has been achieving combine very complex with a more affordable energy, materials common nanostructures and random behavior.
The most interesting characteristics of these artificial neurons, note for example how not only mimic its performance, but also its structure thanks to be equipped with input, membrane, soma and axon. As a gift, to imitate natural neurons membrane, cells made from germanium, tellurium and antimony are used.
