Time ago that Nintendo is focusing on mobile; This year they launched Miitomo and Pokémon Go a few hours ago. At the annual meeting of shareholders of the company, the team emphasized that it will continue by inserting into the world of smartphones and gave clues that they could design their own control for mobile games.
The general manager of entertainment and development of the company, Shinya Takahashi, leads the mobile team and has stated that they will develop both hardware and software for smart devices:
Physical controls for smart device applications are available in the market and it is possible that we ourselves of develop something new. On the other hand, I think that the way of thinking of Nintendo is to assess whether action games are really possible (without control for mobile) create and how we can do it to create a game as well.
Takahashi also mentioned that they will develop applications – aimed both to children and to adults – and not only action games. A clear example of this is Miitomo, so it seems we will see more applications of this kind rather than a Super Mario for mobile, at least in the near future.
Nintendo has not given no official on some smartphones control statement, so we can only stick with the idea. Anyway, looks like a good plan, it is clear that phones touch controls are ultra uncomfortable and also that if the remote says Nintendo will sell like hotcakes.
