Use of smart devices becomes a health problem in Mexico

Not long ago it was discovered that Mexico is one of the countries with greatest range of attachment to the use of their mobile devices, and is now activated an alarm signal that suggests that this could become a problem of social security.

Jaime Alfredo Castellanos Romero, director of the unit of physical medicine and rehabilitation Siglo XXI of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), said in an interview with the daily AM, that there has been a significant increase in the number of cases of inflammation of tendons in the hands by the excessive use of smart devices.

The disease, known as Querbain Tenosynovitis, commonly affects people between 20 and 40 years old, but IMSS spokesman notes that it has become gradually a more recurrent problem of 14 and 15 year-olds.

The cause of this evil would be the long time that engaged those affected in the operation of mobile devices, where the excessive use of your thumbs ends up causing inflammation of tenosynovitis.

To attend to the injured the IMSS would have equipment for hydrotherapy sessions, electrotherapy and even laser beam to relieve inflammation, but warns of the rise in these cases.

The recommendation is to rest your fingers for 10 to 15 minutes after 2 hours of continuous use of a mobile device, or video game console.
