WhatsApp will finally support animated GIFS

Users of WhatsApp prayers have finally been heard and it seems that support for playing animations in GIF format at last will be integrated into future versions of this popular messaging application.

According to a report of the Twitter account @WABetaInfo, specialized in reporting news discovered for future updates to the application, in the most recent whatsapp for iOS beta some lines of code found in the log of changes that seem to confirm the imminent support of animated GIF images within the platform:

Changelog of #WhatsApp #beta for #iOS 2.16.7.1 is available now! https://t.co/yHrYkvUBOm #GIF #GifSupport #HOTNEWS #whatsappbeta

Discovered changes are that users can put direct links to the GIFs in the talks, and WhatsApp will play in automatic animation, while it will also enable attach and send the image directly from the smartphone, allowing you to see the sequence within the own chat window without leaving a browser external.

Other apps in the same market, and Telegram to Viber, took the lead in this area, allowing you to add animations in GIF and even stickers designed by users themselves, so that WhatsApp will apparently come a little late to join this trend.

But better late than never.
