Free Basics, released in the year 2014, is the initiative of Mark Zuckerberg of facilitate the access internet of way free in the countries of the world where by problems geographical or economic still not is available. Free Basics is currently available in about thirty countries, countries where this service is questioned since it does not open internet allowing you to visit any web site, but it is restricted to a limited number of Web sites, violating network neutrality, which forced the Government of India to suspend service. Even so, there are many countries where Free Basics is available, especially in many parts of Latin America, Asia and Africa.
Mark Zuckerberg also wants to offer this service in U.S. rural areas where incomes are low and an internet connection can not afford at home or in your smartphone. This has begun to negotiate with the authorities of the States where you want to offer Free Basics and the phone operators to provide internet coverage in the above mentioned areas.
Exactly the services that offer Free Basics have not been determined, but if the intention is the same that is offering in other countries, where internet access is limited to a few web pages, it is likely that the company does not receive the approval of the authorities to carry out your project.
Since last spring Facebook is to meet with a large number of mobile providers treating them persuade to not charge by data consumed in areas where the company plans to offer Free Basics. It has also raised the idea at the White House who has always proven to be very interested this idea, but if operators, who are actually having to offer the service to the internet for free, do not want, little future will have Free basics in United States.
