Google asks to update apps to support screens “super wide”

Nothing will be having a flagship of 2017, as the G6 LG or Samsung Galaxy S8 newly revealed, if the majority of Android applications do not support 18:9 aspect (or 2:1) ratio of both devices.

Why is that Google is asking developers to update their applications since the first flagships of the year have introduced a screen size “super wide” with aspects 18:9, in the case of LG G6, and 18, 5:9, Galaxy S8.

The problem is that today’s applications support for screens with 16:9 aspect ratio. When used on a device with a 18:9 ratio, will appear two black bars, one above the application and one underneath, so the screen is not exploited to the maximum.

This is just the start and are likely to more devices with 18:9 aspect ratio to come, therefore the importance of updating the applications now.
